If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing upwards for Dansko Closed-Heel and all Solvei models. We recommend sizing downward for Dansko open-heel and sandal models.

Both Dansko and Solvei models are sized according to European standards, with each size increment comparable to an American 'whole size'. Although only one width is offered in each size, different models have been designed to accomodate both narrower and wider than average feet.

Dansko clogs are generously wide through the forefoot to encourage the natural spreading of the foot while walking and to promote proper blood circulation. The uppers are concave to approximate the natural contours of the forefoot and to minimize stress points at the instep. The Dansko toe box is characteristically high and forward.

Dansko Closed-Heel models may feel slightly snug when stepping in, with the rigid heel counter acting as a natural shoehorn. Once in, the contoured footbed, with its superior arch support, cradles and protects the foot without pinching or binding. Because the seamless heel counter is both wide and perpendicular, the heel lifts up and down while walking. This heel action, along with breathable leather socklinings and uppers, allows air to circulate into the footbed, helping to keep hot feet cool and cold feet warm. A variety of closed-heel models, offering such design features as elastic goring, buckles and laces, are available to accommodate both high and low insteps.

Dansko Open-Heel models and sandals are easy to fit and support the full length of the foot. For some wearers, the heel of the foot will meet the back end of the shoe exactly. For others, the heel may be slightly forward of the end. In all cases, the anatomically contoured arch provides all-day comfort and support. As with Dansko's closed-heel clogs, adjustability is carefully considered in the design of the open-back and sandal uppers, taking the form of buckles, elasticized panels, and convertible heel straps.

Solvei by Dansko is made with a slip-lasted construction, where upper patterns are stitiched directly onto a lightweight, microfiber textile to ensure maximum flexibility and accuracy of fit. Nestled into the polyurethane outsole is a dual-density foam footbed. The highest density portion of this footbed is contour-molded to support the anatomical curves of the foot, while the lightest density 'cookies' embedded within provide luxurious cushioning under the heel and ball of the foot.

Solvei models feature a generous toebox and accomodate a wide variety of foot types.
